Welcome to Guestbook Depot The free guestbook service is shutting down You can view your entire guestbook using the "View Guestbook" link in the admin section. Use the "Save as HTML" feature of your browser to save your guestbook to your machine. It should with a bit of cleanup be ready to put up on your site. Note: Private entries will be in the saved guestbook. They are flagged as private, and you can cut them out yourself by searching for "private" with any text editor. As you likely know, I added keys to the guestbooks to help with the spam problem. While examining my logs, I noticed that the signing program has been run much more than anything else. It turns out that now spammers have turned to defacing individual guestbooks with thousands of entries. This site hasn't made money for some time, and to continue, the guestbook server needs to be rewritten from the ground up. The database takes hours to backup and restore, and I don't have the resources to properly upgrade to a new program. New programs always have bugs, and it could take quite awhile to recover from a screwup. I appreciate having talked to those of you whom I've had the opportunity to meet through hosting this service. Unfortunately, after awhile, I got about 200 times more spam than legitimate messages, which is why I quit accepting emails. I still have the server leased for a little while longer, so everyone should have ample time to save copies of their guestbooks. If you know a site owner with a guestbook on their page, please inform them that the service is shutting down. Thanks.
